Frequently Asked Questions

FOR INDIVIDUALS

We offer professional mental health support through therapy, counselling, and wellbeing services. Our work is grounded in evidence based practices and delivered by trained, ethical mental health professionals.

All our practitioners are qualified, trained, and vetted mental health professionals. We prioritise ethical practice, continuous learning, and supervision to ensure high standards of care.

You do not need to be in crisis to seek therapy. If you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, emotionally exhausted, or simply curious about understanding yourself better, therapy can help. You are welcome exactly where you are.

Your first session is a space to share what brings you here at your own pace. There is no pressure to have everything figured out. The therapist will focus on understanding you, your context, and what support might be most helpful.

Yes. Confidentiality is central to our work. All sessions and personal information are handled with care and in line with ethical and legal guidelines. Any limits to confidentiality will always be explained clearly.

We currently offer both online and offline (Bangalore) sessions to make care more accessible. Details about formats, availability, and future offerings will be shared on our website.

We help match you with a therapist based on your needs, preferences, and goals. If at any point the fit does not feel right, we encourage open conversation and will support you in finding a better match.

That is completely okay. Many people start therapy feeling unsure or nervous. Our role is to make the process feel safe, respectful, and non-intimidating.

Technology may support certain non-clinical aspects of our work, but therapy itself is always human-led. We do not use AI to replace therapists or make clinical decisions.

You can begin by reaching out through our website or on whatsapp. From there, we will guide you through the next steps and help you find the support that feels right for you.

Therapy can be both. Some people come in with a specific concern and work through it over a shorter period. Others choose to stay longer to explore patterns, relationships, or deeper questions about themselves. We move at a pace that feels useful and sustainable for you, rather than fitting you into a fixed timeline.

We centre your lived experience. Labels and diagnoses can sometimes be helpful for understanding or accessing support, but they are not the starting point. We are more interested in how you experience your world, your relationships, and your inner life.

Our therapists draw from a range of approaches depending on your needs. This can include relational therapy, psychodynamic work, trauma informed practices, and skills based approaches. We do not follow a one size fits all method. The work is collaborative and evolves with you.

That is completely okay. You do not have to share anything before you are ready. Therapy is not about disclosure on demand. It is about building enough safety and trust so that things can unfold at your own pace.

No. Therapy is not about forcing change. It is about understanding, awareness, and choice. Often, change happens naturally when you feel ready and supported, rather than being pushed into it.

If you are in immediate danger or feel unsafe, we encourage you to reach out to local emergency services or a crisis helpline right away. Therapy sessions are not designed for urgent crisis response, but your therapist can help you think through support systems and safety plans as part of ongoing work.

Yes. Your privacy and confidentiality are taken seriously. Your information is securely stored and only shared when legally required or if there is a serious risk to your safety or someone else’s. We will always be transparent with you about how your information is handled.

At The Open Window, we understand that plans can change. Since therapy sessions involve dedicated time slots reserved specifically for you, we request all clients to respect the following cancellation and refund guidelines to ensure fairness for both clients and therapists.

1. Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

  • Cancellations or rescheduling requests must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled session time.
  • If a session is cancelled or rescheduled within less than 24 hours of the appointment, the session fee will be forfeited.
  • Rescheduling requests are subject to therapist availability.
  • Rescheduled sessions are also governed by the same 24-hour policy.
  • Sessions purchased as part of a package are eligible for rescheduling only and are not eligible for refunds.

2. Therapist-Initiated Changes

  • In such cases, clients will be offered either:
    • A rescheduled session, or
    • A full refund for the affected session.

3. No-Show & Late Arrival Policy

  • If you do not join the session within the first 15 minutes, the session will be marked as a no-show and considered forfeited.
  • No refunds or rescheduling will be provided for missed sessions or no-shows.
  • If you join late, the session will still end at the originally scheduled time to respect the therapist’s schedule and other appointments.
  • Clients are responsible for remembering their session timings. While reminders may be sent occasionally, they are not guaranteed.

4. Refund Policy

Refunds will not be issued for:

  • Late cancellations
  • Missed sessions
